Who am I?
Born in the summer of love 1967, in St-Boniface, Manitoba, I was bitten by the genealogy bug in 1995. Our family moved to Québec in 1980, I settled for a time in the Plateau Mont-Royal district of Montréal, but have since moved to the lower Laurentians, just north of the city.
My Genealogical Passion
This project began as a way to preserve the extensive work of my father, my brother, and my cousin Louis. What started as entering names into a database eventually grew into a mission to find the "ordinary lives" behind the names.
While my brother focused on the printers of 17th-century Paris, I spent my time delving into the records of the first settlers in Montréal, curious about how the name Jubinville spread across Ontario, Manitoba, and the United States.
Hiatus
For years in the late 90's early 00's, this website was hosted at jubinville.org. Over those "active years", numerous people all over the continent contacted me with their bits and pieces. Most notably, Darlene, who generously shared her time and the work of her uncle (you know who you are!).
In the intervening years, kids & life got the better of my limited time. I actually left my job and went to Law School and became a Civil Law Notary at the age of 44; so that was incompatible with maintaining the website and domain. Now that the children are grown and retirement is approaching, it may be time to get back to it.
